Objectives of the Course

Protohistoric period cultures of Anatolia will be introduced in the light of settlements and finds.

Course Content

Central, Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia Early Bronze Age cultures will be introduced.

Week 1 - Theoretical
The importance of Alacahöyük in Central Anatolian Early Bronze Age.
Week 2 - Theoretical
Early Bronze Age burial traditions of Central Anatolia in light of Alacahöyük royal tombs.
Week 3 - Theoretical
Metal working in Alacahöyük and it’s contributions to Anatolian Archaeology. (weapons, jewelry,idols, statues)
Week 4 - Theoretical
Metal working in Alacahöyük and it’s contributions to Anatolian Archaeology. (sistrums, standards, utensils, etc..)
Week 5 - Theoretical
Central Anatolian Early Bronze Age pottery and it’s regional character. (Local pottery, ceramics Alisar III and Intermediate)
Week 6 - Theoretical
Central Anatolian religious thoughts in Early Bronze Age. Explanation with the help of idols and statues.
Week 7 - Theoretical
Early Bronze Age architecture, pottery and metal finds of Kültepe and their contributions to Anatolian archeology.
