Objectives of the Course

To teach laboratory rules and introduce labware. To provide students with laboratory experience by showing experiments parallel to the topics covered in the General Chemistry course

Course Content

By teaching the general rules of working in the chemistry laboratory, the student adapts to working in the chemistry laboratory. Additionally, General Chemistry courses are supported with simple experiments based on basic chemical principles

Learning Outcomes
1.Learns the basic materials used in the chemistry laboratory and gain information about laboratory safety.
2.Establishes the relation between theoretical and practical applications and has the ability to comment on experiments.
3.Gains manual skills for laboratory courses in the next semester.
4.Prepares solutions of different concentration types and know their colligative properties.
5.Learns basic laboratory techniques such as precipitation, distillation, thermal decomposition, density measurement, crystallization, titration.
6.Observes chemical reactions and learns the chemical equations on which these reactions are based.
7.Learns the factors affecting reaction rate and examine the effects of these factors experimentally.
8.Understands chemical equilibrium and examine equilibrium reactions.
9.Examines the transformations between states of matter.
10.Learns the diffusion of gases and related calculations and observe them experimentally.
