Objectives of the Course

To give information about the principles and applications of homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis in chemistry, to show how the presence of a catalyst affects the rate of a chemical reaction, to explain model catalytic reactions and cycle steps, to show industrial processes using catalysts in daily life.

Course Content

Definition, properties and classification of catalyst, catalytic steps, Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction, Heck-Mizoroki reaction, Sonogashira reaction, Stille reaction, Kumada reaction, Negishi reaction, Allylic Alkylation, Hydroformylation, Transfer Hydrogenation, Olefin Metathesis, important industrial catalysts.
