Objectives of the Course

The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the basic concepts of graph theory and some of their applications.

Course Content

Basic concepts, matrix representation of graphs, isomorphic graphs, bipartite graphs, connected graphs, trees, Eulerian and Hamiltonian graphs, paths and cycles, planar graphs, Eulers’s formula, coloring, directed graphs.

3.Ability to explain the notions of tree, spanning tree and connectedness
4.Ability to determine whether a graph is planar by means of Kuratowski’s theorem
5.Ability to determine the chromatic numbers of finite graphs
