Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to teach the fundamental concepts and laws of electromagnetism; to enable students to gain basic knowledge and problem-solving skills in electric charge, electric field, potential, capacitance, current, magnetic field, induction, and electromagnetic waves. The course covers Coulomb's and Gauss's laws, electric potential, direct and alternating current circuits, Faraday's law, Maxwell's equations, and the properties of electromagnetic waves.

Course Content

Electric charge and matter, Coulomb's law, electric field, Gauss's law, electric potential, capacitance and dielectrics, electric current and Ohm's law, direct current circuits, electromotive force, magnetic fields, sources of magnetic fields, Ampere's law, Faraday's law, induction, inductance, alternating current circuits, Maxwell's equations, electromagnetic waves, and the nature of light.

Learning Outcomes
1.Must be able to grasp the importance of physics by understanding the basic concepts of physics related to the matter
2.Must be able to establish the relationship between electric and magnetic forces.
3.Must be able to solve simple problems related to motion of the particles in electric and magnetic fields.
4.Must be able to understand the meaning and universality of fundamentals laws of physics.
5.Must be able to comprehend events by using fundamental knowledge and analytical thinking skills to understand nature.
6.Must be able to propose solutions by associating the events encountered in nature with the laws of physics.
7.Must be able to express the fundamentals principles of electromagnetism and to apply them to the simple problems
8.Must be able to illustrate the simple technological applications of electromagnetism.
9.Must be able to express the relationships between physics and other sciences at fundamental level and understand interdisciplinary studies.
