Objectives of the Course

This study aims to deeply analyze the fundamental dynamics of global and neoliberal capitalism, which took shape from the late 1970s onwards as welfare capitalism and the social welfare state model began to lose power. It seeks to evaluate the subject not only from a Western perspective but also within the framework of Turkey's unique socio-economic and cultural structure. Furthermore, it seeks to develop a sociological approach to global and neoliberal capitalism by examining its socio-political and cultural implications in addition to its economic parameters.

Course Content

The end of Keynesian welfare capitalism after the 1973-74 oil crisis, the crisis of social democracy, the rise of new right policies and conservatism, the fundamental elements of neoliberal economics, and neoliberal culture and lifestyle.
