The main purpose of this course is to understand how the contents of the concepts that enable the understanding of the modern world were formed and in what ways these concepts transformed Europe. This understanding also interprets how the horizons of thought behind the developments in the modern world were nourished by the historical past of Modern Europe and how this positioned Europe against the rest of the world. From this point of view, since understanding what kind of value Europe produces in a global sense is possible by interpreting the developments in the modern world, other objectives of the course include ensuring that the student acquires scientific knowledge to understand today's events.
Modern European History is positioned in the European political history of Geographical Discoveries, Reformation, Renaissance and as a result of these, the political, social, economic and cultural developments experienced in this process, when the adventure of the European people, who transformed after the geographical discoveries, became an information society. constitutes its content. The French Revolution, which occurred in the areas listed above, the general situation of Europe before it, the French Revolution, the Counter-Revolutionary struggles and the Congress of Vienna and the Revolutions of 1830 and 1848, the end of the Metternich System and the developments created by the legacy it left in Europe, in the second half of the 19th century. The developments that took place, the reality of Bismarck and the establishment of German national unity, the developments in Italy, the alliance systems in Europe, the new conjunctural situation created by the threats of conflict and blocs, and the political, economic and social developments that led to the outbreak of the First World War constitute the content of modern European history. Again, the roles of developments in Europe in building the 20th Century are among the contents that complete the course.
