The aim of the Turkish Thought course is to enable students to understand the history and development of thought by increasing their intellectual and cultural knowledge. In connection with this; Other aims of this course are to reveal the founding elements of Turkish thought, to determine the historical, sociological, philosophical and cultural aspects of these elements, and to clarify the main aspects of cultural continuity, taking into account today's conditions, what direction they give to fields such as state, law, culture and society.
The content of the Turkish Thought course is to trace the forms of Turkish thought, particularly through founding texts, on concepts such as state, law, politics, economy, and culture, and to reveal the historical horizons of Turkish thought in line with these texts. In doing so, the course creates content that reveals the historical continuity of this thought through the Oğuz Kağan Epic, the Orhun Inscriptions, Nizamülmülk's Siyasetname, Kutadgu Bilig, and similar foundational texts from the Ottoman period. This helps students understand the development of Turkish thought, its important representatives, and their contributions. For this reason, the content of this course is divided into two main periods, pre-Islamic and post-Islamic, and is structured to include main topics such as state, law, ethics, belief, philosophy, language, and science. These topics are further divided into subtopics to create a meaningful whole within the course content.
