Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to reveal the reasons, progress and the causes of developments up to the present time of the Armenian issue that plays an important role in Turkish internal and external policies; to provide the students with information about Armenian terrorism, the emergence and development of Armenian Diaspora; and to contribute to the solution of the problems between two countries

Course Content

The emergence of Armenian Problem (1878-1890) and the East Question; Uprisings of 1890-1896; Committee of Union and Progress and the Armenians (1896-1914); Armenian claims on Mondros Armistice Agreement and the Treaty of Sevres; Armenians at Independence War; Armenians from the Treaty of Lausanne to the Second World War; the revival of Armenian nationalism (1946-1973); Armenian Terrorism Period (1973-1985); International Armenian community and their roles on Armenian problem; Independence of Armenia, and Turkish-Armenian relations
