Objectives of the Course

The Art of Weaving is one of the oldest arts in human being’s life. Learning the historical development of fabric arising from the needs of dressing and adorning and carpet weaving done with the aim of upholstery, examining the samples in detail, describing the place of the arts of weawing and carpet in handicrafts, fabrics and carpets weawed in Anatolia, weawing centers.

Course Content

Describing the arts of weaving and carpet, historical background, the reasons of emergence, evaluating the samples in terms of material, colour, technique, motif according to centuries, exhibiting them in museums.

1.To be able to comprehend the short history of weaving.
2.To be able to explain the weaving centers, weaving types, techniques and fabric types.
3.To be able to define the colours and motifs used in weavings.

5.To be able to define the short history of carpet art, an important kind of weaving.
6.To be able to explain the characteristics of carpets in terms of material, technique, colour and composition by the centuries.
7.To be able to compare important carpet centers by understanding general features seen in carpets
