Objectives of the Course

The course aims to teach students the historical development of economic systems and policies. By examining how economic thought and practices have evolved through various periods and civilizations, the course aims to enable students to understand contemporary economic structures from a historical perspective. Students will be introduced to the processes of economic change from agrarian societies to the industrial revolution to the modern global economy, and to the main actors and events in these processes. In addition, by analyzing the effects of economic crises, wars, technological innovations and political changes on the economy, students will gain the ability to make connections between knowledge of economic history and contemporary economic issues. In this way, students will develop their critical thinking and analysis skills by better understanding the historical origins and long-term effects of economic policies.

Course Content

This course examines the historical development of economic systems and policies, from agrarian societies through the industrial revolution to the modern global economy. Students analyze the evolution of economic thought and practice, and the impact of economic crises, wars, technological innovations, and political changes on the economy. They also evaluate the impact of historical economic events on contemporary economic issues and policies.
