Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the basic concepts and theories of political economy. The course covers classical and modern theories of political economy, the role of the state in the economy, public policy and international economic relations. Students will gain the ability to evaluate economic events from a political perspective by analysing current issues such as income distribution, development policy, public choice theory and environmental economics. In addition, by focusing on Turkey's economic structure and policies, students will develop their critical and analytical thinking skills.

Course Content

This course examines the basic concepts and historical development of political economy. Students will study classical and modern theories of political economy, the role of the state in the economy, and international political economy. In addition, topics such as income distribution, development policy, public choice theory and environmental economics will be emphasised. The course aims to provide a broad perspective in political economy analysis by covering current issues related to Turkey's economic structure and policies.

1.Students will gain an understanding of the basic concepts, theories and principles of political economy and the ability to apply this knowledge to a variety of economic and political situations.

4.Students will be able to analyse the role of the state in the economy and the impact of public policies and evaluate the economic and social consequences of these policies.
5.Students will have a broad knowledge of Turkey's economic structure and policies and will be able to critically analyse this information and develop strategic recommendations on economic events and policies.
