Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the concept of health, health services, their determinants, and forms of provision. Students will learn how health services are delivered in Turkey by both the public and private sectors, and will explore health economics theories and the empirical analysis of health expenditures. The course focuses on analyzing the effectiveness, efficiency, and optimal use of health expenditures, as well as conducting econometric analyses of expenditure determinants. Additionally, the course will examine the impact of artificial intelligence on the healthcare sector and provide both theoretical and practical insights into health spending.

Course Content

This course focuses on the analysis of the healthcare sector at both global and national levels. Students will explore fundamental concepts such as health, types of health services, determinants of health expenditures, and forms of provision. The course will examine the delivery of health services in Turkey by both the public and private sectors, as well as analyze healthcare systems and health expenditures globally. Emphasis will be placed on econometric analyses of health expenditures, including empirical research on effectiveness and efficiency, to help students understand the proper utilization of healthcare spending. The impact of artificial intelligence on the healthcare sector and comparisons between national healthcare systems and global health policies will also be covered in this course.
