Political Science and Public Administration, as two closely related fields, deal with academic studies of political and administrative matters. As a discipline, Political Science analyzes the diffusion process of the sources and values in a political system. The issues this discipline examines are power, authority, legitimacy, social class, gender, ethnicity and political participation along with the institutions such as government, political parties, pressure groups and international organizations. The discipline also analyzes political concepts including political justice, ideologies and freedom, democracy, moral values and equality.
History
Since 1993, the Department of Political Science and Public Administration has been a part of the faculty, and started to accept students in 2005. The Political Science and Public Administration master's program with thesis, which is carried out by the department at the graduate level, has been accepting students since 2007. The non-thesis master's program in Political Science and Public Administration, which is also carried out by the faculty members of our department, has been active since 2012.
Mission
The mission of our Department of Political Science and Public Administration is to train administrator candidates who have the understanding of modern management and can apply this knowledge, who can take part in global, national, local public, private sector, non-governmental organizations, to transfer ethical, national, universal values in order to perform their duties in the best way, to teach comparative education and research in the fields of politics, management sciences, urbanization and environmental problems, local governments, public law, and international politics, to gain the ability to think in multiple ways and make the right decision in understanding and solving global, regional, national problems.
Vision
In accordance with the integrated and multidisciplinary structure of the chairs of Political Science and Public Administration; to be a department that develops itself to provide quality and diverse education and training services, teaches its students to be researchers and inquirers, and educates graduates who adopt the principle of leading and contributing to development and progress as well as overcoming political and administrative problems.
Purpose
Program Educational Objectives (PEA): To train graduates with the qualifications listed below. PEA 1: To work in political parties, national and international organizations and non-governmental organizations within the framework of interdisciplinary understanding of social sciences, with the ability to adapt to political, social and economic changes and social responsibility awareness. PEA 2: To work as a public servant or manager in public administrations within the scope of general government consisting of public administrations within the scope of central government, public institutions and local governments, or to pursue an academic career in these fields. PEA 3: To work as an expert, inspector, auditor, manager in private sector organizations such as banking, finance, insurance and independent audit firms. PEA 4: To works in local governments, central government units and other public administrations, as well as relevant national and international organizations, private sector and non-governmental organizations that produce policies in major problem areas related to natural and artificial environments. PEA 5: As an individual who has basic legal knowledge, adopts universal values such as justice, equality and human rights and has the notion of law; to work in professional fields such as district governorship, administrative judge, inspector, auditor, auditor, specialist and assistant specialist, which are in the intersection of Political Science and Public Administration and Law disciplines.
Physical Infrastructure
Our department carries out its educational activities in Nazilli Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Isabeyli Campus. Our faculty has a total indoor area of 20,000 square meters. In order to carry out education and training activities, there are 13 classrooms and 36 lecture halls within the faculty. There are projection devices in our classrooms. It also has a total of 80 study rooms, 64 of which are allocated to academic staff. Our faculty also has a technology room with 40 computers and a finance laboratory. Nazilli Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences also has a conference hall with a capacity of 350 people. There are 6,700 printed books and 41 periodicals in our library. The library is also open in the evening hours according to the study needs of students during exam periods. There is also a cafeteria and a rest room for faculty members in the faculty building. There is also 1 dining hall that students can benefit from.
Technical Infrastructure
The computer and internet infrastructure in the faculty has been designed to provide 24-hour service to academic and administrative staff through desktop or laptop computers in each study room; uninterrupted access to academic scientific publications is provided. Students are provided with the same opportunity with the help of the computer lab, which is open during the periods when teaching is in progress. In our faculty, EDUROAM service, which can be used by all students and staff, is provided uninterruptedly. There are 12 E-University platforms in our university. Students actively use the OBIS application in their education and training processes. In addition, distance education courses are carried out through the ADUZEM portal.
