Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to enable students to develop the ability to analyze environmental issues from an interdisciplinary perspective. It seeks to provide students with knowledge about the formation processes of environmental policies, implementation tools, and the legal frameworks at both national and international levels. Furthermore, the course encourages students to develop solution proposals based on the principle of environmental sustainability.

Course Content

The course Environmental Issues and Policies aims to address major contemporary environmental problems by examining their historical development and analyzing them through ecological, economic, and social dimensions. Within the scope of the course, topics such as sustainable management of natural resources, air, water, and soil pollution, climate change, biodiversity loss, waste management, and the relationship between energy and the environment are studied from an interdisciplinary perspective. In addition, national and international environmental policies, legal regulations, environmental impact assessment processes, and the roles of non-governmental organizations operating in the environmental field are discussed. This course aims to help students critically evaluate environmental problems and develop knowledge and awareness regarding the formulation of environmental policies.

5.Students can interpret social awareness of environmental issues, civil society movements, and participation in policy-making processes.
