Objectives of the Course

The aims of this course are to teach general characteristics of fungi including morphology, nutritional status, growth and reproduction and to introduce major taxonomic categories which generally consisting of plant pathogenic fungi by using both theorotical and practical aspects.

Course Content

In this couse, the following subjects will be covered; brief introduction to science of mycology, history of mycology, place of the fungi in living things, importance of fungi in human life, morphology, nutritional status, growth and reproduction of fungi, major taxonomic categories of fungi, the place of plant pathogenic fungi in the kingtom of fungi.

3.To be able to distinguish fungi from other microorganisms
4.To be able to express the importance of fungi in human life and ecological systems
5.To be able to describe the importance of fungi in terms of plant diseases
6.To be able to list general properties of fungi, such as nutritional status and reproduction
7.To be able to recall the taxonomic categories of fungi
8.To be able to recognize the structural differences that are essential in the classification of fungi
9.To be able to recognize the major plant pathogenic fungi and learn their life circles
