Objectives of the Course

The course mainly aims to provide students with an understanding of basic principles of plant pathology including diseases that affect plants, their causal agents and organisms and management of diseases .

Course Content

In the first part, after a brief introduction explaining the aims, purposes of phytopathology, disease concept, the symptoms of diseases are discussed. Fallowing chapters deals with the effect of enviromental factors on plants, disease triangle, disease cycle and the description of pathogenic organisms (fungus, virus, viroid, bacteria, mollicutes and parasite plants). The last part reviews methods of control.
