Objectives of the Course

To give professional knowledge about farming, plant characteristics, taxonomy and economic importance of sugar beet and sugar cane for sugar crops group and potato and sweet potato for starch crops group, in industrial plants.

Course Content

Economic importance of the potato, adaptation, and the cultivation of plant characteristics, especially on the basis of tuber; plant characteristics and cultivation of sweet potato; sugar beet economic significance, adaptation and rotation, especially on the basis of the root body and the cultivation of plant; traits, plant characteristics and cultivation of sugar cane.

Learning Outcomes
1.To be able to have information about plant characteristics, production projections of starch and sugar crops in the world and in our country
2.To be able to apply sustainable agriculture on Starch and Sugar Crops and to understand the cultivation of these crops.
3.To be able to do Interdisciplinary work and have analytical thinking to solve problems that arise in agriculture of Starch and Sugar Crops
4.To be able to use modern techniques in agriculture of Starch and Sugar Crops.
5.To be able to have sufficient knowledge about improving the yield and the quality of Starch and Sugar Crops and to use initiative
