Objectives of the Course

To teach the general structure of grasses and actuall scientific development on grasses and forage crops of other families and to improve students comprehension and interpretation skills on the forage crop-animal husbandry relations, forage crop cultivation, economy of forage production, advisery service and decision making for regional farmers in the national scale

Course Content

Description history and classification of grasses and other family forage crops, production and problems of cultivation, overcoming measures for handicaps, growing techniques of orchardgrass, smoothbrome, meadow foxtail, timothy, perennial rygrass, annual rygrasses, sorghum, maize, some energy crops, fescues, wheatgrasses, other warm season grasses, folder beet, fodder carrot, fodder cabbage, rape and other spice crops

Learning Outcomes
1.To be able to comprehend the importance of grasses and other forage crops in agricultural production.
2.To be able to give an opinion on emerging issues and growing of these plants and propose solutions.
3.To be able to obtain information about the botanical and agronomic characteristics of grasses and other forage crops and to synthesize the acquired information in fodder production projects.
4.To be able to use the positive and negative aspects of grasses and other forage crops genus, species and varieties and product model equations as a suitable basis for the development of animal husbandry.
5.To be able to advise farmers about the new forage crop introductions, seed supply, cultivation procedure and economical issues
6.Tobe able to synthesize the knowledge about the production modelling and potenteials of forage cultivation on a Regional basis
