Objectives of the Course

The objectives of this course is to provide information on personal computers, windows operating system and office software applications and improve the computer skills of the students

Course Content

General characteristics of personal computers, hardware, software, operating systems, and the basic concepts of MS Windows operating system, MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

Weekly Detailed Course Contents
Week 1 - Theoretical & Practice
The introduction of personal computers, the concepts of hardware and software, their components, operating systems, files and features, the introduction of the Windows XP operating system, desktop and its components, start menu, taskbar, work with windows, using programs, work with files and folders. Also case study and literature review.
Week 2 - Theoretical & Practice
Customization of computer, control panel, network connections, equipment.Also case study and literature review.
Week 3 - Theoretical & Practice
MS Word: Introduction, appearance and privatization, creating a new file, save, save as, open the file, change the structure of pages in the document, strolling on document, text copy/cut, paste, undo, redo, key typed in MS Word and the implementation of the rules, getting help. Also case study and literature review.
Week 4 - Theoretical & Practice
MS Word: Changing of format properties of text (font, paragraph, etc.), bullets and numbering, styles and formatting, find and replace. Also case study and literature review.
Week 5 - Theoretical & Practice
MS Word: Page orientation, sizing and margin editing.Also case study and literature review.
Week 6 - Theoretical & Practice
MS Word: Equation editor, change the language, spell checking, watch the changes. Also case study and literature review.
Week 7 - Theoretical & Practice
MS Word: Working with tables (adding, conversion, change formatting, etc.), making the print preview and print outs. Also case study and literature review.
Week 8 - Theoretical & Practice
MS Excel: Introduction, appearance and privatization, to create a new spreadsheet, save, save as, page properties, work with cells, rows, and columns, data entry, correction, move, copy, paste special, worksheet, insert, move, copy, name change, get help, get print preview and print output. Also case study and literature review.
Week 9 - Theoretical & Practice
MS Excel: Format properties (font, color, borders, and so on.) and their exchange, formatting of the cells according to their content (number, text, date, etc.), auto-formatting, conditional formatting. Also case study and literature review.
Week 10 - Theoretical & Practice
MS Excel: work with MS Excel formulas, priorities arithmetic process, formula creation. Also case study and literature review.
Week 11 - Theoretical & Practice
MS Excel: the adding and use of functions, getting help with functions, the data sorting, filtering. Also case study and literature review.
Week 12 - Theoretical & Practice
MS Excel: graphic design, graphic types and applications, change of the graphics properties. Also case study and literature review.
Week 13 - Theoretical & Practice
MS Powerpoint: Introduction, appearance and privatization, to create a new presentation, the save, insert, delete, move, and copy of slide, change formatting, print preview and print output gain, using a design template to create the slide master, change the existing design templates. Internet: Internet search engines, make detailed searches. Also case study and literature review.
Week 14 - Theoretical & Practice
MS Powerpoint: Introduction, appearance and privatization, to create a new presentation, the save, insert, delete, move, and copy of slide, change formatting, print preview and print output gain, using a design template to create the slide master, change the existing design templates. Internet: Internet search engines, make detailed searches. Also case study and literature review.
