Objectives of the Course

Theoretical and practical information on insurance, risk and risk management tools in agriculture, and applications of agricultural insurance, insurance calculations, methods of damage assessment and organization, reassurance and systems of government support would be transferred to students selected the lecture within the scope of lecture in Faculty of Agriculture. Thus, providing demands of specialist engineer on risk management and agricultural insurances for Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, TARSIM and private insurance firms in particular and increasing employment opportunity of grad students in this area are targeted.

Course Content

Insurance concept, improvementy of insurance business, classification of insurance; characteristics of agricultural activities and relationships with agricultural insurance; risk and uncertainties encountered in agriculture, tools for risk managament in agriculture; risk management in rural development; agricultural insurances in risk transfer; identification, scope and classification of agricultural insurances; improvement of agricultural insurances; legislation in agricultural insurance and imrovements in organizational structure in Turkey; state-funded agricultural insurances and types of those, management of agricultural insurances; insurance applications region-based; insurance calculations, risk analysis, risk price, determination of insurance premimum, preimum/damage relationships, sureties, bills; damage theories, techniques of damage determination and damage organization; determination of compensation, case studies; financing of insurance and reassurance, insurance cooperation

Learning Outcomes
1.To analyze and model natural, economic, and biological risks specific to agricultural production using micro and macro-level dato gain the capacity to analyze agricultural risks utilizing both micro and macro-level data.
2.Design risk-mitigating policy strategies and insurance processes for agricultural enterprises under realistic constraints such as budget, region, and crop type.
3.Ability to design risk-mitigating policy strategies and insurance processes for agricultural enterprises under realistic constraints, including budget, region, and crop type.
4.Comprehend national agricultural insurance legislation (TARSİM), government subsidy applications, and international agricultural insurance policies.
5.Define legal standards along with professional and ethical responsibilities in agricultural insurance appraisal, loss assessment, and indemnification processes.
6.Ability to conduct individual or multidisciplinary teamwork on agricultural risk analysis and insurance case studies, and to prepare and present technical report.

Insurance concept, historical development of insurance, classification of insurances, Improvement of insurance sector and current situation temper to branches
Week 2 - Theoretical
Relationship risk and insurance, importance and place of agriculture in economy of the country, characteristics of agricultural operation, and relationship of those with agricultural insurances
Week 3 - Theoretical
Risk and uncertainties encountered in agriculture; classification of risks and insurable; tools for risk management in agriculture; risk management in rural development

Importance of agricultural insurances in risk tranfer; identification, scope, and classification of agricultural insurance,
