Objectives of the Course

This course is an understanding of the basic map data and spatial and non-spatial information systems, usage and basic components of Geographic Information Systems. To learn analysing, assessing and interpreting GIS data using ESRI ArcMAP (a GIS software) in landscape planning studies.

Definition, history, components, areas of use and functions of GIS and usage of ESRI ArcMAP software in the planning studies.

1.To be able to build relationships between geographic information systems and landscape architecture
2.To learn the basic concepts and components of geographic information systems
3.To understand the importance and use of geographic information systems on landscape architectural studies

5.To understand the basic geographic information systems data and to know analysis, assessment and interpreting concepts using ESRI ArcMAP software
