The department trains the students to be able to make the necessary applications and having technical knowledge about the aquaculture and fishing issues in order to find solutions to the problems of our country's fisheries in modern and scientific meaning and makes the necessary applications to students.
History
Department of Fisheries Engineering which was established in 1994 began to accept students in the 2012-2013 academic year. Students of the department are trained in the use of technology and to gain experience about the relevant field in the light of the theoretical and practical courses that taken in first, second , third and fourth years of the education of Basic Sciences Fisheries , Aquaculture , Fishing and Processing Technology programs. The department has been conducting many research projects associated with the foreign institutions and universities. The research projects are at the regional, national and international perspective. The department personnel attend various national or international meetings, seminars, symposia and congresses each year to solve problems or to share ideas and research results.
Mission
To train contemporary , modern , scientific, ethical, aware of recent innovations, leading to the production of knowledge and technology in aquaculture, researching in regional, national and international level and to and to provide information to relevant stakeholders.
Vision
Department of Fisheries Engineering trains recognized, nationally and internationally performing, continuous self-renewal students with a quality education, and provides effective communication and collaboration with stakeholders, establishing models with product information.
Purpose
The aim of the department is to provide qualified and modern education to the students about aquaculture, fisheries and management of water resources on nature issues. The education contents aquaculture, fish biology, fisheries ecology, fish diseases, aquatic products, aquatic products processing and other topics related to water resources. The graduates that have this education will be able to understand the numeric arguments and make positive or negative critique to the readings about the aquaculture issues and use this information in the applications of aquaculture or water management. The priorities of the department are to train contemporary, modern, scientific, ethical, and aware of recent innovations, leading to the production of knowledge and technology in aquaculture, researching in regional, national and international level.
Physical Infrastructure
Adnan Menderes University Faculty of Agriculture is located at 20 km south of Aydın, with an area of 2400 square meters. The land was transferred to the university by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs on 01/21/1994. 17 blocks covering an area of 52,000 m2 residential area. Parts of the main buildings (offices, faculty members, laboratories and classrooms): 5000 m2; Laboratories (28 pcs): 4000 m2
Technical Infrastructure
The Fisheries Research and Application Facility, which has a closed area of ??600 m2 within our department, is actively working and is equipped to carry out all kinds of aquaculture related applications. The main equipment of the facility: 12 units of 500 L (semi-transparent), 10 units of 1200 L and 12 units of 1000 L, motopump and piping system that provides continuous water flow to the tannings, 2 blowers for air cooling of the tanks, 27 units of 200 liter aquarium and heating-filtration device, algae room, alternative species laboratory, feed production unit, catching equipment application area and office. Fisheries Engineering department laboratory has 2 units and a total area of ??110 m2. One of these laboratories is a wet laboratory and includes aquarium units. The other laboratory contains a variety of tools and equipment and can provide hands-on training to 20 students at the same time. If necessary, laboratories of other departments within the faculty can be used .
