Objectives of the Course

To provide students with the knowledge and skills about the common women's health issues, deterioration of the pelvic support structures, sexually transmitted infections, reproductive system cancers and midwifery approaches to breast health issues.

Course Content

Women's health status in the world and in Turkey, women's life stages and problems, diagnosis and treatment methods used to evaluate the health of women, common women's health problems (pain, discharge, bleeding, incontinence, etc.), sexual health, behavior, values, beliefs and practices, benign and malignant genital tumors, disorders of pelvic support structures and sexually transmitted infections.

Learning Outcomes
1.To be able to promote women’s health status in the world and in Turkey, to explain problems common to women's health such as pain, discharge, bleeding, and provide training, counseling and care in order to prevent and eliminate these problems
2.To be able to define the cycle of sexual function of women and men, sexual dysfunction and and provide sexual health counseling
3.To be able to explain the structure and function of reproductive system disorders
4.To be able to identify the signs and symptoms of gynecological malignancies, to provide training, counseling and care in gynecologic cancers and breast health problems
5.To be able to identify and give care to the caring needs of women before and after gynecological surgery
6.To be able to identify sexually transmitted infections , to provide training, counseling and care to prevent sexually transmitted infections
