Objectives of the Course

Objective of the course is to provide that students learn the approaches of Transcultural Midwifery Care by emphasizing the importance of Transcultural Midwifery Care primarily in women's, newborns' and children's and secondarily in families' and society's health protection. They also recognize the cultural characteristics and cultural changes in society that they live in.

1.To be able to acquire knowledge about concepts and theories of culture.
2.To be able to have knowledge about traditions, customs and existing cultural structures, cultural attitudes, discrimination and prejudice
3.To be able to comprehend the importance of culture and the effects of cultural values when providing care
4.To be able to recognize the cultural characteristics of the society that the patients live in.
5.To be able to understand the effects of values and belief systems on the individuals' life
6.To be able to acquire the knowledge and skill of providing intercultural care by taking into account that the need of care should be provided in a way that is appropriate to the culture of individual / family / community.
7.To be able to understand the gender, ethnic and generation differences
