Objectives of the Course

The general purpose of this course is to outline the guidance process and special education in schools and the main topics are: The place of guidance services in education; brief history of guidance; models and approaches regarding guidance; philosophy, purpose, principles and program of the developmental guidance model (comprehensive developmental guidance program); types of guidance (educational, vocational and personal guidance); the teacher's role and function in classroom guidance; basic concepts related to special education; principles and historical development of special education; legal regulations regarding special education; screening, guidance, diagnosis and evaluation in special education; individualization of instruction; inclusion and support special education services; family involvement and cooperation in special education; Ethical principles in guidance and special education.

Course Content

Definition of special education, basic principles of special education, causes of disability, importance of early diagnosis and treatment, importance of special education in pre-school education, historical approach to disability, mentally disabled, hearing impaired, visually impaired, physically disabled, language and communication impaired. , characteristics and education of children with ongoing illnesses, specific learning difficulties, attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder, autistic and gifted children, education of differently developing children through play, reactions observed in the families of children in need of special education, the status of special education in our country, the institution established for this purpose. and organizations.
