Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to reveal the similarities and differences between the origin of religion, the emergence of religious feeling, developmental stages and different belief systems in the light of sacred texts and to recognize the sacred spaces of these belief systems.

Course Content

To be able to learn the definitions of religion and basic concepts, to be able to comprehend different sacred texts and places from the beginning to the present and to evaluate them in terms of tourism

Week 1 - Theoretical
Students learn the concepts of religion, magic, art, myth, sacrifice, beyond world, supreme being and the developmental stages of religion.
Week 2 - Theoretical
Students will have information about belief systems in prehistoric times.
Week 3 - Theoretical
Students learn the ancient Mesopotamian religions.
Week 4 - Theoretical
Students learn the ancient Egyptian religion.
Week 5 - Theoretical
Students learn the ancient Anatolian religions.
Week 6 - Theoretical
Students learn the religions of ancient Arabia.
Week 7 - Theoretical
Students learn religions of ancient Greece and Romans.
Week 8 - Theoretical
Students learn religions of ancient Turks.
Week 9 - Intermediate Exam

Students will learn about Zoroastrianism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Yogaism, Jaynism, Confucianism, Shintoism.
