Objectives of the Course

To help the students improve their reading and writing skills and their proficiency in critical way of thinking so that they can make comments on the literary works that they read.

Course Content

In parallel with the course objectives, the aims of the course mainly includes to get the ss to improve scanning and skimming methods in reading, to enrich the vocabulary, to develop the ability to read and comprehend, to be able to discriminate between the main ideas and the supporting ones by finding out the differences, to get the readers to compare and contrast their lives with the ones in the texts that they read, to analyse and comment paragraphs, to be able to respond all sorts of questions related to the texts. Also, to get the ss to write on different topics by improving their writing skills; to organize the Introduction, the Development, and the Conclusion parts of the topics and to teach the rules to be followed while uttering the opinions in written style.

Learning Outcomes
1.To be able to comprehend different types of reading strategies, hints and skills and read accordingly
2.To be able to determine the frequently used idioms and generally confusing glossary and use them in the proper way.
3.To be able to follow certain speeches made by both the academic staff and the ss and also acquire sufficient communication skills and approaches to take part in different debates during the sessions.
4.To be able to acquire the proficiency to write longer and more mentally developed essays by improving and enriching their speaking and writing skills in the academic context with the helpful integration of their listening and reading skills.
5.To be able to reach the necessary comprehension and speaking abilities of Vocational English level for the next year
