The objective of the course is to teach students the development of religious and civil architectures and plan and ornamental features in the civilizations sharing coasting with the Mediterranean; to comprehend the structural characteristics of each period and to teach their interaction with Turkish-Islamic Art.
Within the context of the course, development of religious and civil architecture in Islamic Architecture, material cultural artifacts in the geography of Mediterranean, basic knowledge about religious, civil and military architecture and small handicrafts in the Fatimid, Ayyubid and Ilhanid Period; influences of aforementioned periods with each other and their impacts on Anatolian Turkish-Islamic Art will be examined.
