Objectives of the Course

It grasps the meaning of concept of civil society from a historical perspective and analyses whether understanding of civil society is possible or not in Turkish society with respect to theoretical knowledge.

Course Content

To take historical development of the civil society and emerging of this concept again at last quarter of 20th century into consideration, then to Express the relation of democracy and civil society

2.Describes the context of the concept of civil society.
3.recognizes the importance of Hegel and Gramsci who creates the meaning of the concept and it does critical comments.
4.realizes the importance of the concept for a democratic government.
5.analyzes the closer relation of the lack of democratic culture of Turkish political life with the lack of civil society.
