Objectives of the Course

To teach the reciprocal interactions between individual?s genetic characteristics and the dietary components, also the possible effects of these interactions on human health using the nutritional genomics knowledge.

Course Content

Basic concepts of genetics, nutritional genomics and related terms, the effect of diet on gene expression, gene-diet interactions on the prevention and/or the treatment of various diseases , nutritional genomics practice areas, the requirements and responsibilities of dietitians related to the subject.

Name of Lecturer(s)
Learning Outcomes
1.Review the basic understanding of genetics
2.Define the terms about nutritional genomics.
3.Learn the effects and the possible mechanisms of diet and dietary components on gene expression
4.Define how individual genetic variations can change the response to diet using known examples
5.Learn common gene-diet interactions that can be effective on the formations of various diseases, and develop accurate suggestions for these.
6.Acquire knowledge of legal and regulatory issues associated with nutritional genomics.
7.Realize the requirements and responsibilities of dietitians about nutritional genomics.
