Objectives of the Course

It is aimed to have knowledge about Classical Greek and Roman mythology and comprehend their similarities and differences from the Middle East and the world mythologies.

Course Content

Stories of mythological mosaics in Gaziantep and Hatay Archaeology Museums will be discussed by giving information about creation of the universe and the birth of the Gods in Classiclal Greek Mythology, Twelve Olympians, the twelve labors of Heracles, Trojan war in detail.

Information will be given about the birth of the Gods and creation of human by Prometheus and how Prometheus brought human fire.

Zeus's love affairs will be discussed.

Information will be given about Hades, Hephaistos and Hermes who are among the 12 Olympian Gods.
Week 5 - Theoretical
Information will be given about Poiseidon, one of the 12 Olympian Gods.
Week 6 - Theoretical
Information will be given about Athena, one of the 12 Olympian Gods.
Week 7 - Theoretical
Information will be given about Apollo, one of the 12 Olympian Gods.
Week 8 - Theoretical
Information will be given about the oracle centers in Anatolia and their relatisonship with Apollo.
Week 9 - Theoretical
Information will be given about Artemis, one of the 12 Olympian Gods.
Week 10 - Theoretical
Information will be given about Dionysos, one of the 12 Olympian Gods.
Week 11 - Theoretical
Information will be given about birth and the twelve labors of Heracles, one of the most important heroes in Greek mythology.
