Objectives of the Course

In this course, it is aimed to equip students with the skill to design innovative and sustainable alternative tour routes in nivhe areas such as urban, nature, gastronomy, industry, adventure, dark tourism and popular culture by analyzing the evolving approaches to guiding in accordance with global tourism trends and changing tourist profiles

Course Content

This course covers next-gen guiding approaches and tour design processes shaped within the framework of changing tourist profiles. During the course, in addition to urban, nature, eco and adventure-based tour routes, tour routes focusing on living museums, intangibla cultural heritage, gastronomy, industrial heritage, melancholy and popular culture will be examined. Based on the theoretical knowledge gained in the course, students will be able to design original alternative tour routes and develop them into projects considering their operational, financial, and sectoral dimensions.

5.Transforms the alternative tour route he/she has originally designed into a format that complies with the standards of the industry, along with target audience, logistics, and cost data, and presents it verbally

Week 1 - Theoretical
The course and its content will be introduced, and the changing tourist profile the experience economy, and new generation guiding will be discussed
Week 2 - Theoretical
Information will be given about designing alternative urban tour routes and routes focusing on neigbourhood culture
Week 3 - Theoretical
Information will be given about nature and eco-tourism based tour routes, and rural tourism dynamics
Week 4 - Theoretical
Information will be given about adventure-based tour routes (such as trekking, cycling, and outdoor sports)
Week 5 - Theoretical
Information will be given about living museums and the integration of intangible cultural heritage elements into routes
Week 6 - Theoretical
Information will be given about gastronomic tour routes focusing on experiencing local flavors
Week 7 - Theoretical
Industrial Tourism: Information will be given about routes to former factories, mines, and industrial transformation routes
Week 8 - Theoretical
Information will be given about popular culture focused tour routes (TV/film sets, literary maps, and art movements)
Week 9 - Theoretical
Information will be given about the processes for creating melancholic-themed tour iitneraries
Week 10 - Theoretical
Information will be given about smart destinations, audio guides, and hybrid routes
Week 11 - Theoretical
Information will be given about the methods for calculating tour costs (fixed/ variable expenses) and determining sales prices when creating a tour route

Alternative tour routes created by the students will be presented
