Objectives of the Course

To understand the role and importance of economics as a social science and academic discipline, to recognize and develop economic concepts, to relate these concepts to the real world, to evaluate the importance of economic forces shaping the contemporary world.

Course Content

Firm and consumer behavior, types of markets, determination of market price, profit and utility maximization, production and cost, basic macroeconomic variables and concepts, indicators of economic performance, aggregate expenditures and determination of national income, money and banking.
