The Department of Journalism, which is a 4-year bachelor degree program within the Faculty of Communication of Aydın Adnan Menderes University, aims to train professional journalists who have adopted professional ethical values in this direction, aiming to ensure that the public receives impartial, accurate and fast news. Our department has sub-departments of General Journalism, Information and Information Technologies, and Media Studies. The main goal of our department is to train students who are competent in the fields of journalism and multimedia in the axis of communication, media, journalism and new media information. The Journalism Program will contribute to the training of contemporary individuals, researcher, science-based, open to innovation and able to compete with their colleagues in developed countries. Graduates of our department can work in all units operating in the communication and media sectors such as journalism, radio and television journalism, photography, press management and economy, broadcast design, internet journalism, and editing.
History
The Journalism Department of the Faculty of Communication, which was established in 2011 within the body of Aydın Adnan Menderes University, received its first students with a quota of 60 people in the 2018-2019 academic year. It will give its first graduates in the academic year of 2021-2022.
Mission
As Aydın Adnan Menderes University Communication Faculty, Department of Journalism our mission is to educate the qualified and socially responsible journalists of the future, who are innovative and pioneer in their profession, provide accurate and impartial news to society, have knowledge and equipment that will keep pace with the speed of communication in the age, can lead and govern, mould public opinion, contemporary, libertarian, democratic and faithful to Ataturk's principles and reforms.
Vision
In our world where communication is important, our future vision is to educate our students by international standards and train them as to who can understand their country and the world, enlightened, respectful to ethical values, contemporary, democratic, faithful to national values, can investigate and question.
Purpose
Communication is crucial in terms of functions such as solving social problems, educating and informing society, developing culture, establishing healthy communication among individuals, ensuring peace and a more humane order in society. The rapidly growing communication sector is increasingly in need of qualified staff. The Aydın Adnan Menderes University Communication Faculty Journalism Program, first in the Aegean Region and then in the whole of Turkey, aims to train communicators who can imagine, research, produce, transform and transmit a communication in an accurate and qualified manner, and produce solutions through social and ethical approaches to social problems. The program aims to enable students to follow mass media and professional developments and to make it easier for them to be employed.
Physical Infrastructure
There are 1 iMac and 4 PCs in our department's News Center. Within the Faculty of Communications, there is one 40-person iMac Digital Media Workshops, one 20-person PC Workshops, a television studio with 1 live broadcasting company, a photo studio, a digital printing workshop, one Advanced Media Research Lab with biometric data collection tools as eye-tracker and GSR, various classrooms, and equipment.
Technical Infrastructure
In our faculty, there are 40 Apple iMacs and 20 PCs open to the use of our students. There are also 15 Canon 650D and 750D DSLR cameras, 4 Sony XDCam professional video cameras (outdoor shooting), 3 Sony ENG video cameras (indoor shooting), 3 audio recorders.
