Objectives of the Course

The objective of this course is to enable students to learn the fundamental concepts, methods, and techniques of screenwriting. The course aims to provide students with an understanding of the creative process—from the idea development stage to the creation of the screenplay—and to help them acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for story development, character creation, the development of dramatic structure, and writing in a professional screenplay format.

Course Content

The course covers the concept of screenwriting and the role of the screenplay in visual storytelling. Methods of idea development, as well as the writing of loglines, propositions, synopses, and treatments, are examined. Topics such as scene construction, conflict development, character development, and dialogue writing are addressed through practical exercises. The rules of screenplay writing in the American format and the elements of dramatic structure are taught. Screenplay analyses are conducted using films watched during the course, reinforcing concepts and methods with concrete examples.
