Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to examine the digital transformation of television broadcasting, focusing on the rise of digital platforms, evolving viewer habits, content production strategies, and the structural and economic shifts faced by traditional broadcasters. Students will gain the knowledge and skills to critically analyze broadcasting practices in the digital media landscape.

Course Content

This course focuses on the digitalization of television broadcasting and the transformation brought by digital platforms in the media landscape. Students will explore the differences between traditional and digital broadcasting, content production and distribution models of digital platforms, changing audience behaviors, platform economies, advertising and subscription systems, the role of algorithms, and legal and ethical issues in digital broadcasting. Case studies will include both global and local platforms such as Netflix, BluTV, YouTube, Disney+, and Exxen.
