The aim of the course is to give information about intercultural communication theories to students. To be sensitive to cultural differences, to gain an intercultural perspective that they will also consider in their daily life, to show how intercultural communication situations can be resolved are the other objectives of the course.
This course will deal with topics such as Culture, the history of intercultural communication studies, intercultural communication theories, culture effect on the communication process, communication competence.
| 1. | Explains the dynamic relationship between language, culture, and communication, and theoretically distinguishes their similarities and differences in intra-cultural and intercultural contexts. |
| 2. | Identifies and analytically examines the barriers and conflicts encountered in intercultural communication processes, and develops constructive solutions to address these challenges. |
| 3. | Critically recognizes both the communication patterns specific to one's own culture and the cultural prejudices and stereotypes developed toward other cultures. |
| 4. | Demonstrates the ability to conduct independent research using qualitative or quantitative methods to investigate the communication characteristics and behavioral codes of different cultures. |
| 5. | Acquires applied intercultural communication competence by demonstrating empathy, flexibility, and cultural sensitivity when interacting with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. |
