Objectives of the Course

The objective of this course is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the historical and theoretical background of the interactive documentary genre, and to enable them to design and produce original, user-centered documentary projects using digital storytelling techniques and branching narrative structures.

Course Content

This course is a practical study of the transition from traditional documentary to interactive digital storytelling. Students explore the history, theoretical models, and user experience (UX) principles of interactive documentaries. Throughout the course, they master non-linear branching narrative techniques and develop original interactive projects that integrate audio and visual elements. The process is built upon a technical and ethical production discipline, spanning from conceptualization to prototyping.

Name of Lecturer(s)
Learning Outcomes
1.Explains the historical development, theoretical framework, and narrative models of the interactive documentary genre.
2.Analyzes existing interactive productions through a critical lens in terms of design and narrative.
3.Constructs branching narrative structures and integrates user interaction into the editorial process.
4.Integrates audio, visual, and interface elements into a cohesive structure using interactive documentary production tools.
5.Prepares the necessary research and design documentation for a project from the conceptualization phase to the prototype stage.
