Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to examine shipment planning and routing processes in business logistics from order approval to vehicle selection, loading, documentation, costing, and route planning. Within the scope of the course, students are expected to gain the ability to plan shipment resources by considering operational constraints, analyze basic routing problems, and formulate and solve logistics optimization problems such as transportation, assignment, and scheduling problems.

Course Content

Practical examples of types of shipment, vehicles and their properties, loading and shipping problemsThis course covers shipment planning in business logistics, order approval and listing, warehouse-shipment relations, determination of product quantities to be shipped, vehicle selection, operational problems in loading and transportation, shipment documents, routing planning, transportation, assignment and scheduling models, shipment costs, and pricing through case studies and problem-solving applications.

Name of Lecturer(s)
Learning Outcomes
1.Explain shipment planning, order management, warehouse-shipment relations, and basic routing concepts in business logistics.
2.Plan product quantities, vehicle selection, loading, and documentation processes by considering operational constraints.
3.Evaluate appropriate route alternatives in routing planning by considering distance, capacity, time, cost, and service-level constraints.
4.Calculate shipment and transportation costs and relate them to pricing decisions.
5.Formulate and solve transportation, assignment, scheduling, and basic vehicle routing problems as mathematical models.
