Objectives of the Course

The objective of this course is to convey the fundamental principles of maritime management, liner optimization strategies, and the operational dynamics of modern container transportation to students. Within the scope of the course, it is aimed to examine container types and loading principles, general container port management, empty container logistics, route and cost analysis, and global and national maritime trade regulations through a holistic approach.

Course Content

The content of the course encompasses the historical development of maritime management and container transportation, followed by container types, loading techniques, and general container port management processes. Alongside strategic operational decisions such as liner optimization, route and cost analysis, and empty container management; topics including the Container Security Initiative (CSI), anti-smuggling regulations, short sea shipping, and the current structure of the container transportation sector in Turkey are addressed through case studies.
