The aim of this course is to teach the basic concepts of modeling and simulation in logistics systems and to enable students to gain knowledge and skills in discrete-event simulation, queueing models, input analysis, output analysis, model verification, and scenario evaluation. Within the scope of the course, students are expected to build models of logistics operations using simulation software such as ARENA, analyze system performance, and develop alternative solution scenarios.
This course covers the basic principles of modeling and simulation in logistics systems, discrete-event simulation, queueing models, determination of input distributions, random number and random variate generation, model verification and validation, statistical analysis of outputs, scenario comparisons, and experimental design. In addition, simulation models related to warehouse, queueing, service, inventory, and basic logistics operation processes are developed using ARENA software, and system performance is analyzed.
