Objectives of the Course

Teach fundamental concepts of design, planning, control and improvement of production and service systemsProvide an integrated view of analytical decision methods in a supply chainProvide a detailed framework on forecasting concepts and techniquesIntroduce overall supply chain planning starting from capacity planningTeach techniques to deal with uncertainties in real life logistics systemsFamiliarize with the handson use of optimization software

Course Content

This course aims to introduce concepts and techniques related to the design, planning, control, and improvement of both manufacturing and service operations. Some of the topics covered include: process description, flow diagrams, capacity analysis, capacity ROI, cycle time analysis, inventory management, delayed postponement, production control, work coordination, risk pooling, quality management, process design and reengineering, product development, project management, procurement.

3.Student will be able to use an integrated systems view to identify and model problems in logistics systems.
4.Solve the problems encountered in manufacturing planning, stock control and scheduling.
5.Knows the basic methods used in production planning and inventory control problems.
