Objectives of the Course

The objective of this course is to convey the fundamental principles, analytical methods, and optimization models used in the analysis, network design, and process management of express cargo and courier transportation operations to students. Within the scope of the course, it aims to provide competence in defining operational problems ranging from distribution systems to vehicle routing and developing effective solutions.

Course Content

The content of the course encompasses the operational structures of the express cargo and courier sector, short and long-distance freight transport network design, and hub location selection. Accordingly, cross-docking operations, scheduled milk-run runs, mathematical and heuristic applications of traveling salesman and vehicle routing problems in courier/vehicle scheduling, and multi-constrained cargo loading problems are examined alongside global best practices.
