Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to enable students to evaluate the basic concepts of fleet management and its role in transportation economics in terms of vehicle selection, fleet capacity planning, maintenance, driver management, cost control, tracking systems, document management, legal regulations, and sustainable fleet practices. Within the scope of the course, students are expected to analyze operational, financial, technological, and legal constraints encountered in fleet operations and develop appropriate management decisions.

Course Content

This course covers the basic concepts of fleet management, fleet types, road transportation services, vehicle selection, fleet capacity planning, vehicle acquisition and replacement decisions, fleet costs, maintenance planning, driver management, fleet tracking systems, telematics applications, performance indicators, international road transportation institutions, conventions, transport documents, multimodal transportation, route planning, and sustainable fleet management.

Name of Lecturer(s)
Learning Outcomes
1.Explain the basic concepts of fleet management, fleet types, and its role in transportation economics.
2.Evaluate vehicle selection, fleet capacity planning, vehicle acquisition, renewal, and fleet costs within operational and financial constraints.
3.Relate maintenance, driver management, document management, international transportation rules, and legal regulations to fleet operations.
4.Monitor and evaluate fleet operations using fleet tracking systems, telematics applications, digital tachographs, and performance indicators.
5.Develop appropriate solution recommendations for fleet management problems by considering sustainability, safety, cost, service level, and legal constraints.
