Objectives of the Course

The objective of this course is to convey the logistics operations regarding the classification, storage, and multi-modal transportation of hazardous materials to students within the framework of national and international regulations. Additionally, it aims to provide awareness and competence in analyzing risks that may arise during hazardous material operations, implementing occupational health and safety (OHS) rules, and taking safety measures to protect environmental and human health.

Course Content

The content of the course begins with the definition, classification, and role of hazardous materials in logistical processes (raw materials, storage, transportation, waste). Accordingly, regulations on the control and transport of radioactive, medical, chemical, and hazardous wastes, as well as LPG transport, filling, and discharge rules (TS 1445, TS 449) are examined. Furthermore, the scope encompasses principles of occupational safety in hazardous material logistics, risk assessment, emergency planning, personal protective equipment, and legal responsibilities across all transport modes (such as ADR), primarily road transport.
