Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to enable students to understand the basic assumptions and perspectives of the field of developmental psychopathology and to acquire basic knowledge to explain the developmental basis of different mental disorders and the etiology of different developmental disorders.

Course Content

Developmental psychopathology approach, normative development and psychopathology relationship, diagnostic systems, infancy: mental disability, autism spectrum disorders, externalising disorders, oppositional defiant disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, emergence of learning disorders, anxiety disorders, depression and suicide, conduct disorder and development of antisocial behaviour

1.Acquires skills of developing basic psychopathology formulation in relation to developmental thresholds and issues of childhood, puberty and adult periods
2.Student can benefit from current progressess in clinical formulation and research plans to understand genetic and environmental effects on disorders in childhooh/puberty .
3.Student can recognise signs of mental disorders which are affected by genetic and environmental factors
4.Student knows concepts and explanations about prognosis and treatment of mental disorders within developmental psychopathology.
5.Student can recognise signs of mental disorders which are affected by genetic and environmental factors.
