Objectives of the Course

To educate the students about patient history, intra oral and extra oral examination methods, systemic diseases in dentistry, basics of radiology, and dental radiography techniques for a true diagnosis and treatment planning.

Course Content

Patient story, examination methods, assesment of findings, systemic diseases in dentistry and oral findings, structure and functions of saliva, x- rays ( creation, features and damages ) , detail, density, contrast and factors effecting, film processing, radiographic quality, intraoral and exraoral radiography techniques, paralactic techniques, anatomic landmarks on dental radiographies, caries radiography, radiography of periodontal tissues, radiography of trauma to teeth, radiography of temporomandibular joint, dijital imaging and advanced imaging

Learning Outcomes
1. Identify the examination and diagnostic techniques for patient assessment.
2. Describe the normal of anatomic structures in oral cavity with their non-pathologic anatomic variants.
3. Describe the oral manifestations of systemic disease and to identify complications related to systemic diseases during dental treatment.
4. Understand the basis and mechanism for producing x-rays and tell the physical properties of x-ray.
5. Apply the proper methods for processing dental radiographs on patients.
6. Interpret and explain radiographic images errors and corrective actions.
