Objectives of the Course

To develop theoretical knowledge in fundamental medical practices and to acquire the competency to perform systematic patient assessments as well as implement interventions related to respiratory and circulatory support

Course Content

Acquisition of airway management skills Acquisition of bag-valve-mask (Ambu) ventilation skills Ability to administer oxygen therapy and nebulized/inhaler treatments Acquisition of pulse oximetry application skills Acquisition of intravenous (IV) access insertion skills Skill development in administering intramuscular and intravenous injections Acquisition of blood pressure measurement skills Ability to assess general condition and level of consciousness Ability to position an unconscious patient in the recovery position Skill development in ensuring the appropriate transport of patients Ability to take measures to stop or control external bleeding Acquisition of skills in preparing a discharge summary (epicrisis)

Name of Lecturer(s)
Prof. Özlem KOCATÜRK
Learning Outcomes
1.Developing the ability to perform effective airway management techniques
2.Developing the ability to effectively use a bag-valve-mask (BVM) for assisted ventilation
3.Developing the ability to establish peripheral intravenous access
4.Demonstrating the ability to implement appropriate interventions to manage and control external hemorrhage
5.Students will be able to sequentially identify the key steps in preparing a patient discharge summary and demonstrate the ability to write a complete and accurate epicrisis.
6.Developing the ability to evaluate a patient's overall clinical status and level of consciousness accurately
7.To ensure the safe transfer of the patient or injured person without causing any harm during transportation.
8.Developing the ability to accurately measure blood pressure
9.Developing the ability to correctly position comatose patients in the recovery position
10.Developing the ability to administer oxygen to patients using oxygen delivery devices correctly and to apply nebulizer and inhaler medications appropriately to indicated patients by using the devices according to proper techniques.
11.Developing the ability to correctly and sequentially perform the steps of pulse oximeter usage, enabling smooth progression from one step to the next.
12.Acquisition of skills to perform intramuscular and intravenous injections
