Objectives of the Course

Identify and explain the fundamental issues related to first language acquisition, second language acquisition/learning and foreign language learning; recognize, interpret and compare the theories that explain the issues and relate language teaching and language acquisition processes.

Course Content

Theories of first language acquisition, second language acquisition/learning, foreign language learning (behaviorist, innatist, cognitive and connectionist models), varieties affecting the process, observing the second/foreign language classroom.
